A well-drafted employee handbook can provide helpful guidance to both employers and employees. Poorly drafted and outdated policies can create legal risk. So can policies which an employer implements but fails to follow. Rules for the workplace on what is acceptable, and what is not, continue to change. Some policies are now required by law. This session will discuss the very basics of what an employer considering policies and handbooks should put into action as well as potential hotspots and legal issues which can flow from how policies are written and applied.
