Napa County forgoes union-favored agreement for new jail construction

Napa County will build its new, $128 million jail without a project labor agreement favored by unions.

Union officials said such agreements have a host of benefits for both workers and the builder. But county consultants concluded an agreement could increase the $87 million construction-phase budget by 10 percent to 15 percent, or $9 million to $14 million.

National Apprenticeship Week Celebrated in Northern California

Students from Del Valle High School in Livermore, CA will visit the Associated Builders and Contractors Northern California Chapter (ABC NorCal) training facility, tomorrow, November 15, to get an overview of life as an apprentice. To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, students will be trained by ABC NorCal instructors and be encouraged to look at alternative options for education outside of college to put them on a path for a career in the trades.

Senate Committee Gives Working Californians a Reprieve
